Children and teens are not getting the mental health treatment they need. Many are on long waiting lists and fewer than 25% receive help.
Therapeutic interventions facilitate the development of self-esteem, supports emotional health and growth and assist children in decision making, problem-solving and learning effective coping skills. This helps the child to become more focused and confident.
Benefits of Therapy for Children
A therapeutic relationship is developed between the child and therapist which helps create a sense of safety and trust for the child. The therapist is non-judgmental and totally accepting of the child as they present.
Our playroom creates an environment in which the child can express themselves in a child friendly way. The child has access to lots of different toys and activities that help them to be creative and imaginative and encourages expression of thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Children may find direct talking difficult, therefore play based therapies are much more supportive.
We offer a number of therapeutic supports to children aged 4-12 depending on their individual needs. Services include:
Play-Based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT]
Each child is unique and grows at their own pace. Parents will be advised on the number of sessions their child may require by their therapist.
