Meet Aideen a compassionate and dedicated play therapist, whose career has been devoted to empowering children to navigate their emotional landscapes and uncover their true potential. With over 35 years of experience in the realm of education, Aideen's journey has been one of profound transformation, leading her to become an invaluable asset to the NorthStar clinic.

At NorthStar Aideen shines as a beacon of hope for children and families navigating the often complex terrain of emotional well-being. Through her carefully curated therapeutic interventions, she enables children to engage with their emotions, guiding them toward a more positive connection with the world around them. Aideen's nurturing approach not only supports healing but also empowers children to embrace their true potential, fostering resilience and emotional growth.

Aideen's professional journey began in the classroom, where she nurtured young minds as a Primary School Teacher. Her commitment to the holistic development of children quickly became evident, as she not only educated them but also fostered their emotional well-being.

Recognising the vital importance of mental health in a child's life, Aideen took on the role of Home School Community Liaison (HSCL) Teacher, engaging closely with parents seeking guidance on their children's emotional challenges. This pivotal role brought her face-to-face with the intricate relationship between a child's emotional world and their educational journey.

It was Aideen's experiences as an HSCL Teacher that served as the catalyst for her transformative career shift into play therapy. Fueled by a desire to provide more targeted support to children grappling with emotional difficulties, Aideen embarked on a new chapter of professional growth as she pursued her training in Play Therapy with APAC (The Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy) in partnership with NUI Galway.

With unwavering determination, recognising the immense potential of play, art, and conversation as therapeutic tools her qualifications armed her with a comprehensive understanding of the nuances of play therapy, equipping her to create safe and confidential spaces for children aged five to twelve years old to explore their emotions.

Aideen's rich tapestry of experiences as an educator and play therapist intertwine seamlessly, enriching her ability to provide holistic support to both children and parents. Her journey, marked by dedication, continuous learning, and a profound belief in the transformative power of play, encapsulates the essence of healing and empowerment that defines her professional ethos. As a play therapist, Aideen stands as a testament to the enduring impact of compassion, dedication, and the unwavering pursuit of helping children flourish emotionally and reach for the stars.
