Meet Vivienne, a dedicated and compassionate child and adolescent therapist with a profound commitment to nurturing the emotional and mental well-being of young individuals. Having worked as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in both Primary and Secondary Schools, she has proven her expertise in addressing a diverse range of issues including separation anxiety, bereavement, anxiety, depression, self-harm, eating disorders, trauma, and bullying.

 

With a skilled background in child and adolescent mental health, Vivienne's career has been characterised by her ability to provide a safe and empathetic space for her young clients to explore and navigate their complex emotions and challenges. Her journey in the field of psychotherapy and counselling has been marked by a deep connection with expressive therapies and an unyielding dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of the children and teenagers she works with.

Vivienne’s educational qualifications include; a B.A (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Sciences (ICHAS), which laid the foundation for her therapeutic approach. She further honed her skills by obtaining a Masters Degree in Child Art Psychotherapy from University College Dublin (UCD), solidifying her expertise in working with young individuals.

Vivienne's expertise spans a wide age range, from 5 to 18 years old, reflecting her versatility and adaptability as a therapist. Her unique approach, combining traditional therapeutic techniques with the creative power of art, sets her apart as a beacon of hope for children and adolescents facing various challenges in their lives.

Vivienne's journey into the world of expressive therapies began during her time at CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service), where she served as a Trainee Art Therapist. It was here that she discovered the profound impact of creative and expressive methods in helping children and adolescents process their emotions. This experience ignited her passion for using art as a medium to facilitate healing and self-expression.

One of Vivienne's notable contributions was her involvement as a facilitator in the Pillar Project. This innovative program focused on providing group-based support to children dealing with the challenges brought about by family changes stemming from bereavement and separation. Vivienne's role included not only guiding the children through their emotional journeys but also offering workshops and support for parents and guardians, recognizing the holistic nature of healing.

Vivienne's expertise expanded further during her tenure at Developing Minds, a Mental Health Service that harnessed the power of art to help children and teenagers process their emotions and life challenges in a supportive and contained environment. Her ability to connect with her clients on a personal level while utilizing art as a therapeutic tool showcased her unwavering commitment to their growth and well-being.

As a child and adolescent therapist at NorthStar Clinic, Vivienne continues to be a guiding light, illuminating the path toward healing, growth, and resilience for every young individual fortunate enough to cross her path.
